FAQs

  • Vermont residents have access to grants from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) to help cover the cost of select Continuing ThrED sewing classes.

A VSAC grant is free “gift aid” awarded based on financial need, so you don’t need to pay this money back BUT you DO need to apply.

Explore your eligibility for financial support from VSAC with the links below or call the number below to reach VSAC’s Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) to schedule a free appointment and receive personalized financial help from one of VSAC’s EOC counselors.

When applying, please use the name “Continuing Thred at Fourbital Factory.” An incomplete institution name or misspellings will delay the grant verification process.

  • We reserve the right to cancel workshops or classes due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or instructor illness. We will try our best to update you of this change as soon as possible. You will receive a full refund due to a cancellation of this nature. If we need to cancel a single session within a class series, a make-up class will be rescheduled.

If you need to cancel because a class no longer works for you, please reach out to us at information@continuingthred.org or call us at 802.736.9493. We can issue you a full refund or credit towards a future class if you cancel 14 days ahead of the class start day. After this time, you will receive a 50% refund or credit if you cancel up to 8 days before the class start day. After this point, no refunds or credits will be issued for a cancellation, not showing up for class, or no longer attending class. Thank you for understanding this policy is in place to provide the most time and opportunity for someone else to fill the class spot.

  • Yes please! We highly encourage you to bring and work on your own machine. Make sure your machine is in good working order before class and refamiliarize yourself with it if it’s been a while. Bringing your machine manual is always recommended!

However, we do offer machines for use in some of our classes. This may be helpful for those in the beginner class who want to try sewing or serging before investing in a machine and tools.

  • We do not sell fabric at this time but many classes provide fabric for projects at no additional cost.

You can always bring your own fabric to class instead, but reach out to your instructor at information@continuingthred.org to ensure it is right for the project.

We encourage supporting local businesses to source fabric so check out our neighbor at Stash in the Soda Bottle Plant on Pine Street or visit them online.
